In May of 2009, the home owner, Natalie Murray, St. Thomas, US Virgin Island designed this multi-level home crusted in the Browner Hill on Lindbergh Bay in St. Thomas. They needed a central air conditioning system that was capable to minimize the remodeling impact in this concrete building and flexible enough to conditioned this almost 7,000 sq ft building.
This building needed 23 tons of refrigeration with (2) 3.5ton Unico air handling unit and (3) 5ton Unico air handling unit using vertical discharge cooling only condensing units as well as Unichiller. After considering different air conditioning alternatives, they decided to go with the Unico System. Natalie Murray was particularly interested in the features of the system; refrigeration coils in the air handling unit capable of 30% more removal of relative humidity, small air supply outlets to avoid large "ugly" vents and small ducts (2") to maximize the head space.
Better yet, using the Unico System, gave the home owner the advantage of reducing the cost of remodeling significantly and adding comfort to all levels of the building, avoiding ductless units inside the building. (Read the full Case Study)
In May of 2010, the architect, Julio Galtes, Galtes & Forn Arquitectos, San Jose, Costa Rica designed this multi-use building, "Obelisco" in the heart of the new business center in San Jose. Their focus was in the interior design, maximizing spaces and building usage flexibility.
This building needed 60 tons of refrigeration with (12) 5 ton Unico air handling units using a horizontal discharge cooling only condensing unit. After considering different air conditioning alternatives, they decided to go with the Unico System. Jaime Forn was particularly interested in the features of the system; refrigeration coils in the air handling unit capable of 30% more removal of relative humidity, small air supply outlets to avoid large "ugly" vents and small ducts (2") to maximize the head space.
Better yet, using the Unico System, gave the engineer the advantage of adding an additional floor to the building that was originally design for lower ceilings. (Read the full Case Study)
