This class is heavily weighted towards hands on. Individual participation is required for Unico to issue an APT Certificate. For each student to have a chance to participate, the class size may be limited to 10 attendees.
Please do not attend this class if lifting, wiring and equipment performance verification is not of interest. This is not an easy class and all attendees are required to come prepared to use charts, tables, calculators and hand tools. Please do not make plans to leave early.
Maximum class size and pre-registration for class attendance will vary by location.
Please read below for further details about class topics, training facility, registration, fees, hotel reservations, travel, and transportation:
CLASS TOPICS:
Once the Load is done, how do we select the equipment?
- Equipment selection using Unico performance tables
- Refrigerant Pipe Sizing Procedure
- Refrigerant evacuation and charging techniques
- Refrigerant trouble shooting methods
- Duct system trouble shooting methods
- Set chiller flow rate and measure Btu capacity using GPM & Delta T

Zoning Portion of Class:
We have a complete three zone system for you to install. You will assemble the air handler and duct system including zone dampers, pressure balancing bypass and supply tubing. All electrical components need to be wired and programmed for heat pump operation.
After the installation is complete, a proper system startup is necessary to verify correct damper and bypass operation. Each student will be required to take performance data so we can discuss and evaluate system operation.
INSTRUCTORS:
Our class instructors are NATE certified and have several years experience in the HVAC industry and on the Unico System.

The class registration process will vary by location. When you submit your request for training information on-line, you will receive an acknowledgement that your inquiry has been received. You will then be contacted by the Unico Representative for class availability and further scheduling.
FEES:
Any registration fee will also vary by training location. If required, the fee includes hotel lodging, transportation to/from the hotel and training facility, lunch on class day, and class books and materials.
