A Catholic university, Marylhurst was founded in 1893 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Today, Marylhurst provides quality and innovative educational experiences for individuals of many religious beliefs and backgrounds.
Marylhurst University was faced with the issue of replacing the central plant steam boiler and adding air conditioning for the historic BP John Administration building and classrooms. The University, with the help Dantech Heating & Cooling and Kong Tang of Thrifty Supply, decided to use Unico. With the Unico system they were able to maintain the historic look of the buildings with very little modifications to install the system. The University President was also very concerned about aesthetics of the wall outlets and came up with a very creative rosette finish piece that is made of plaster and or wood. This is an on going multi building project and they currently are enjoying the benefits of the Unico system in many classrooms and the student lounge in the BP John Administraion building, the oldest building on campus.
Currently scheduled for retrofit is the historic landmark Aquinas hall, circa 1930. Future projects include the second floor of the BP John Bldg, the old library, performance hall and the chapel.
